The Chauncey Brownstone

32 Livingston Street, Brooklyn NY 11201

ABOUT

This multi-leveled space is ideal for capturing the allurements of a classic Neo-Grec brownstone. What makes the Brooklyn Townhouse individualistic is that there is no stone incising on the brownstone front or other stone ornaments, that would have been typical for a Neo-Grec house. The house retains most of it original façade elements, although the stoop’s original heavy iron railings and balustrade have been lost. The curved window heads on the basement level are suggestive of Second Empire townhouses built in the immediate Civil War period. The original wide dormer window was altered in the late 1940s. Natural light from the large windows illuminate 1,350 square feet on each level. The parlour floor consists of two spacious living and dining rooms leading to a renovated kitchen with premium appliances. Through the mahogany double doors is a verdant backyard terrace. Up the curved staircase to the second floor is the master bedroom with an en suite bathroom, walk-in closet and marble fireplace. An additional room adjoining the master suite looks out to the serene neighborhood. The third floor includes three bedrooms and two full bathrooms.  The Brooklyn Townhouse is located on the tree lined streets of Livingston, a brief walk to the waterfront views of the East River in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Public transportation, shopping and dining are easily accessible by nearby stations Atlantic Avenue and Jay-Street Metrotech
